Wrapping Things up and Heading Home

Posted on Sep 13, 2019

On Saturday we were able to relax and do a little sightseeing. We visited the American Cemetery. It is a beautiful tribute to those who fought in WW II. Hard to believe the large, beautifully landscaped property is right in the middle of Manila. Then we visited Green Hills where we did a little souvenir shopping at the vendors. Imagine the largest flea market ever! Afterwards we enjoyed a dinner at Dads World Buffet in the MegaMall. Some were more adventurous than others with their food choices and our youth got to join the live band in a round of “Baby Shark”.

On Sunday we attended church in Floodway. We gathered with the body of Filipino believers that we have been working and visiting with this week. The two hour church service consisted of communion, music, prayers, scriptures and several messages. Pastor Guy was able to share, as well as other men in our group. The music was in English and most of the message was in Tagalog. After church we enjoyed lunch with the Pastor Bong, his wife, Teacher Olive and their kids and Teacher Lisa and her family.

On Sunday afternoon we had the opportunity to sit down with a group of Chinese believers who are also staying at the guesthouse. They told us their story about life in China and we had the opportunity to ask questions and pray with them.

In the evening we had dinner with Robbie and Deanna Nichols, where we said our goodbyes.

On Monday we were able to assisted KIM with another feeding. While there some of our group had the opportunity to participate in a Bible study. The rest of us helped distribute food and spent time with the kids. Afterwards we headed to the beautiful Daranak Falls in Tanay to just relax and cool off a bit. On the way back to the guesthouse visited Bagong Nayon II Antipolo Christian School.

Tuesday morning we got up around 2:00 and headed to the airport to catch an early flight home. I’m sure everyone is going to be glad to be home, but we’re all sad to leave our friends in the Philippines (new and old). Lord willing we’ll be back soon.

Thank you for your continual prayers!
