Steps for Life

For over 25 years, First Image (formerly PRC) has hosted Steps for Life, a 2 mile, family-friendly Walkathon. This event brings together people from all over Greater Portland who believe in the life-affirming work that First Image does to help women, men, students, and families find hope, healing, and compassionate care. Every year, hundreds of people walk for life and raise money to benefit the work of their ministry including their five Pregnancy Resource Centers (one mobile), Heart, and The Reality Project. “But through love serve one another.”—Galatians 5:13c

This is a very interesting statement.  In the context the Apostle is admonishing the believers not to be enslaved again to the various rites and rituals of the law.  He affirms that Christ has fulfilled the Law, that in Christ they have been set free from the Law, and that they are called to freedom. “His delight is not in the strength of a horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.” Psalm 147:10-11

The fear of the Lord is a multi-faceted concept in Scripture. In Psalm 147:10 the fear of the Lord is equated with hoping in the loving kindness, the mercy, the steadfast love of the Lord. (more…)
